I read an article in 2012 about a mother who was trying to care for her special needs child and become so frustrated and overwhelmed that she killed her. If she would have had the assistance of federal and state programs to help her as well as an experienced person to give her advice this might not have happened. This gave me the motivation to finish my books so those families struggling to raise these demanding and difficult children will know there are resources and help available that can relieve the stress of everyday living. My heart goes out to all parents who face this tremendous responsibility. You parents are the heroes of today. You trod down a path unknown to you and through tears, disappointments and heartbreaks we tread forward trying to find answers and help. This is 1 of a 3 book set. The second is "Learning from an Angel" which shares the life and hardships of our family as Missy grows up and third "Missy's Medical History" spanning 24 1/2 years. Rosetta Robbins Fairbanks was born May 11, 1956 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Rosetta was one of 18 children and was raised in a rural country area south of Idaho Falls. She graduated from Skyline High School May 1975. She worked at the LDS Hospital Nursing Home in her mother's place while her mother gave birth to her last child. Rosetta worked and saved her money to pay for housing and school expenses to attend Ricks College now known as BYU Idaho (Ricks) in the secretarial program in business. She later met and married her beloved sweetheart in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple on August 21, 1976. She gave birth to 3 sons and 1 daughter. Rosetta was a stay-at-home-mom until 1990 when her daughter was placed outside the home in an institution due to severe problems with her special needs child. She felt lost now that her daughter was no longer at home so she began working as a substitute teacher for elementary and junior high schools in the area she lived. The school district discovered she had a special needs child and was asked to substitute teach the special needs children. Being too close to her own situation with her daughter she decided to take a training course in caring for the Elderly. Later she earned her Certified Nurses Aide, Certified Home Health Aide License, CPR, and First-Aide and began working for a Home Health and Hospice Company for four hours a day to keep her busy during the day while her other children were at school. Rosetta worked in the Home-Health field until the death of her daughter on December 16, 2004 when she dislocated her arm from her shoulder from lifting a patient out of the bath tub. After her recovery she and her husband took the CDL-A Class to drive semi-trucks. After passing the exam her husband talked her into driving school bus where they lived part-time as a sub driver. So they both went back and took the exam for school bus and passenger endorsements and drove school bus. This is where she and her husband began driving the special needs buses for the school district. Her Husband's full-time job was coming to an end from big corporate lay-offs so both found a job working as co-managers at a gracious retirement living center with her husband in Salt Lake. Later Rosetta became ill forcing both of them to change careers. Rosetta had written several books about her life experiences that were not published and her husband encouraged her to continue her life's dream as a writer.
