Tootle was a multi-talented driver who raced about every kind of race car with four wheels. According to some, he won over 1200 races, including between 300 and 400 in the late model ranks. He is a true Southern racing legend who has secured his rightful place in the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame in Florence, Kentucky. Contains 164 photographs.

Parker, Gary L.: - Racing Historian Gary Parker attended his first dirt race at the famed Boyd's Speedway in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in 1955. Over 60 years, he has watched hundreds of races all over the South and at several historic tracks that no longer exist. He traveled and became close friends with some of the icons of Southern dirt racing and helped drivers in the pits. He was a member of Jody Ridley's crew from the late 1960's through all of the 1970's, and he was part of H.E. (Doc) Vineyard's pit crew for several years in the 1980's. He has written a number of articles for such racing publications as Dirt Late Model Magazine. Parker holds a PhD. in Anthropology. He lives with his wife in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Stone, Karen Paul: - A native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Karen Paul Stone holds a BA degree in French and Spanish from the University of Kentucky and founded Waldenhouse Publishers, Inc. in 1995 near Chattanooga. She serves as Editor in Chief and principal designer. She is also Editor of McCoy Farm & Gardens Newsletter in Walden, TN. She was co-founder of Ashland Press in 1975 and for ten years a principal of Transylvania Printing Company, both in Lexington, KY. She is author of several books.
