Berlin, Oktober zweitausendvier. Für Tobias Markel öffnen sich die Gefängnistore der Haftanstalt Berlin-Moabit. Als ein Dreivierteljahr später bei einem Verkehrsunfall in den Niederlanden ein Mann getötet und am Unfallort noch eine weitere Leiche entdeckt wird, erscheint der Mordfall plötzlich in einem anderen Licht. Alle Anzeichen deuten vorerst darauf hin, dass es sich bei dem Toten um den wahren Mörder von Markels Freundin handelt. Doch schon wenig später gestaltet sich dieser Fall zunehmend mysteriöser. Nachdem die sechzehnjährige Gymnasiastin Melanie, zu der Markel eine recht au ergewöhnliche Beziehung unterhält, auf rätselhafte Weise verschwindet, begreift Markel, dass er eine Schlüsselrolle in dem Spiel skrupelloser Gangster übernommen hat. Kurz bevor es ihm gelingt, das Geheimnis um die Ermordung seiner Freundin zu lüften, gerät er in ernsthafte Gefahr. Dieser Roman garantiert nicht nur Spannung und Unterhaltung, sondern entfacht in dem Leser immer wieder Neugier. Ein aktionsreiches und dennoch realitätsnahes Geschehen, bei dem Konflikte und brisante Situationen in ihrer Dynamik einen meist unerwarteten Verlauf nehmen, setzt auf den Liebhaber anspruchsvoller Unterhaltungslektüre.

Thomas Hamber, Jahrgang 1957, verheiratet und Vater zweier Töchter, wurde in Hamburg geboren und arbeitet seit 1990 als Polizeibeamter. Neben seiner speziellen Tätigkeit beschäftigt er sich bereits mehrere Jahre mit mysteriösen Begebenheiten aus dem näheren Umfeld. Dabei setzt er sich weniger mit der Darstellung kriminalistischer Untersuchungen an sich auseinander als viel mehr mit der Studie beteiligter Personen. So konfrontiert er auch den Leser mit einer Reihe äußerst interessanter Charaktere und macht dabei deutlich, dass Gut und Böse mitunter sehr eng beieinander liegen. Mit "Herbstschnee" hat Hamber seinen ersten Roman auf den Markt gebracht. Schriftstellerisch trat er bisher durch die Veröffentlichung kleinerer Arbeiten in Erscheinung.
