This book is dedicated to the men of Argenteuil County who braved their fears and enlisted in the Armies, Air Forces and Navies of Canada and Britain in times of War and made the ultimate sacrifice. Canada found herself involved in wars in which the world would change forever. From the trenches of World War One to battling insurgents in Afghanistan and the numerous United Nations peacekeeping missions, Canadians have always been in the forefront of conflict, and volunteers from Argenteuil have always been numerous. During 1914-1919, volunteers from the County certainly didn't imagine the horrors waiting for them in the Fields of Flanders. From the massive use of artillery, machineguns and poison gas, our soldiers braved these weapons daily. Imagine... the bravery of every soldier, ordered to leave the relative safety of their trenches in order to cross No Man's Land in order to charge the enemy trench under murderous fire!! How many acts of bravery were performed and never documented for lack of eyewitnesses The biographies are listed alphabetically by surname for ease of research and were written using primary archival textual records and well researched secondary sources when the primary sources were not available. Soldiers service files, unit's war diaries, squadron's operational record books and other records from Archival repositories in Canada, Great-Britain, the United States and even from South Africa, were consulted, copied, studied and carefully analyzed to insure accurate biographical information.
