"Hindu Administrative Institutions," co-authored by V.R. Ramachandra Dikshitar and S. Krishnaswamy Aiyangar, explores the governance structures of ancient Hindu societies. This work examines political institutions, legal frameworks, and the roles of officials, illustrating how these systems shaped Indian civilization. Drawing on ancient texts and inscriptions, Dikshitar provides insights into the evolution of these administrative practices and their continuity over time. The book is a valuable resource for understanding the historical foundations of Hindu governance models and their impact on regional administration and Indian political heritage.

Vishnampet R. Ramachandra Dikshitar (1896–1953) was an esteemed historian, professor, and Sanskrit scholar, specializing in Tamil history. He began his academic career at St. Joseph College, Trichy, and later joined the University of Madras, where he held positions as a reader and professor in the Department of History and Archaeology. Dikshitar authored numerous influential works, translated Tamil classics such as the Silappathikaram and the Tirukkural into English, and served as the general editor for the Madras University Historical Series. His prominent works span a wide range, from studies in polity and administration to explorations of ancient Indian warfare and culture. Diwan Bahadur Sakkottai Krishnaswamy Aiyangar (1871–1946) was an Indian historian and Dravidologist. As chair of Indian History and Archaeology at the University of Madras (1914–1929), he pioneered nationalistic approaches to South Indian history, especially Vijayanagar studies. Aiyangar’s notable works include Sources of Vijayanagar History, Ancient India, and South India and Her Muhammadan Invaders.
