Hindu Tales from the Sanskrit (1919) is a collection of Indian stories compiled and translated by Nancy Bell. The book presents a selection of traditional Hindu tales from ancient Sanskrit texts, offering insights into Indian mythology, folklore, and moral lessons. The stories are drawn from classical sources like the Mahabharata, Ramayana, and Puranas, and reflect themes of wisdom, virtue, and divine intervention. Bell's translation aimed to introduce Western readers to the rich cultural heritage of India, showcasing the depth and variety of its narrative tradition. The collection remains an important work for understanding early Hindu storytelling.

Siddha Mohana Mitra, (1856–1925) was an Indian scholar and spiritual teacher known for his work Hindu Mind Training, co-authored with an "Anglo-Saxon Mother." He sought to bridge Eastern and Western philosophies, emphasizing mental discipline, meditation, and self-control rooted in Hindu traditions, while appealing to Western audiences for cross-cultural understanding and Nancy Bell (1844–1933) was a British translator, author, and Catholic hagiographer, born to a Belgian father and British mother. Writing under the pseudonym "Nancy D'Anvers," she gained recognition for her translations of Jules Verne's works, including The Fur Country (1874). She also authored books on art, history, and religion, and was known for her children's literature. Married to artist Arthur George Bell, she produced numerous works with his illustrations. Bell’s extensive literary output includes biographies, travel accounts, and religious texts. She passed away in 1933, leaving behind a legacy of translations and scholarly contributions.
