Besonderes Augenmerk sollte auf die Früherkennung gelegt werden, damit Begabungen sinnvoll gefördert werden können, da sonst die Gefahr besteht, sie versiegen zu lassen. Unsere moderne, informationstechnische Gesellschaft ist mehr denn je abhängig von hochbegabten Personen, um die stetige Entwicklung auf hohem Niveau voranzutreiben und neue, wichtige Erkenntnisse zu erlangen. Da das Gebiet der Hochbegabung ein sehr weites ist, beschränkt sich die vorliegende Arbeit auf hochbegabte Kinder im Grundschulalter, den Möglichkeiten zur Förderung, aber auch den Problemen, mit denen diese Kinder konfrontiert werden können. Zu Anfang wird eine Definition des Begriffs gegeben, um eine erste Eingrenzung festzulegen. Hierauf wird erläutert, wie man begabte Schüler erkennen kann und worauf man bei besonderen Gruppen, wie beispielsweis hochbegabten Mädchen, achten sollte. Ist Hochbegabung erkannt worden, geht es in einem folgenden Schritt um etwaige Förderungsmöglichkeiten, von denen hier zwei etwas ausführlicher betrachtet werden sollen. Der vorletzte Abschnitt dieser Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit den vielfältigen Problemen, denen hochbegabte Kinder zum Teil ausgesetzt sind, die aber auch überwunden werden können. In einem abschlie enden Fazit werden die angesprochenen Punkte zusammengefasst und es wird ein Ausblick auf die Entwicklung in der Hochbegabtenforschung- und förderung gegeben.
