Prior to her studies she spent fourteen years as a direct-care worker in hospitals and nursing homes taking care of patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. In her own words "When I look back to that time I realize that the patients who really struck a chord with me were those who were diagnosed with cancer. I witnessed how cancer can strike anyone regardless of class, race, age, religion, lifestyle or gender. I felt powerless because I didn't have a clue on how to help them beyond the training I had at that time. As a result, after I finished my college courses I decided that I wanted to help cancer patients achieve better odds against the disease." Tami Dickerson, M.H. strives to make a difference by educating patients on how to find ethical holistic practitioners and teaching patients what they can do for themselves to enhance the cancer-killing action of conventional treatment plans.
