Ais 1973 im Teubner-Verlag das Buch "Dreidimensionale Bilder durch Holografie" von Ju. Ostrowski in der gleichen Reihe verc: if- fentlicht wurde (die Originalausgabe "Golografija" erschien 1970 im Verlag Nauka), konnte die Holografie bereits auf eine 25jah- rige Entwicklung zuruckblicken. Ihre wesentlichen Grundlagen waren erforscht, und zahlreiche Anwendungen zeichneten sich abo GroBen Anteil an dieser seit 1962 ausgesprochen dynamisch verlaufenden Entwicklung hatte die Erfindung und praktische Realisierung des Lasers zu Beginn der 60er Jahre. An der Bedeu- tung dieser Lichtquelle fUr die Holografie hat sich bis zum heuti- gen Zeitpunkt nichts geandert. Die 70er Jahre waren vor allem gekennzeichnet durch die Suche nach praktischen Anwen- dungsmoglichkeiten und das von mehreren internationalen Zen- tren der Holografie sehr konsequent verfolgte Streben, die Holo- grafie als modernes optisches Abbildungs- und Rekonstruktions- verfahren in breite Bereiche von Wissenschaft und Technik einzufUhren. Heute wissen wir, daB viele der dabei verfolgten Projekte, wie das dreidimensionale Kino und Fernsehen, noch einer langeren Entwicklungszeit bedurfen. Obgleich es nicht an ermutigenden Teilerfolgen mangelt, steht ein GroBteil der attrak- tiven Anwendungslosungen auch weiterhin vor der Aufgabe, den Schritt vom Laborversuch zum industriell einsetzbaren Ver- fahren vollziehen zu mussen. Bei allen objektiven Schwierigkei- ten, die sich hier auf tun, ist nicht selten der unzureichende Infor- mationsstand eine Ursache fUr die unbefriedigende Akzeptanz durch die Industrie. Dieser Umstand auBert sich auch darin, daB selbst von Autoren modernster physikalischer Lehrbucher be- sonders darauf hingewiesen wird, wenn in ihrer Darstellung die Holografie enthalten ist.
