During that time he worked some of the most notorious murders in Seattle, from serial murderers, domestic terrorists, and psychotic killers. In his true crime memoir, Homicide: The View from Inside the Yellow Tape, he describes some of the most interesting murders he's worked on. A look inside the yellow tape; inside the interrogation room, where you come face to face with pure evil, and see what it's like to investigate murder.

Cloyd Steiger is the Chief Criminal Investigator for the Washington State Attorney General Homicide Investigation Tracking System. He is also Consulting Committee member of the American Investigative Society of Cold cases, which assists agencies nationally investigate cold murder cases. He retired in 2016 after 36 years with the Seattle Police Department, 26 years as a detective and 22 years in Homicide. He has three sons, (two of which are Seattle Police Officers) and 6 grandchildren. He lives with his wife in the Seattle area.
