Robert Macomber's Honor series of naval fiction follows the life and career of Peter Wake in the U.S. Navy during the tumultuous years from 1863 to 1901. In this, the ninth in the series, it is 1888 and Commander Peter Wake, U.S. naval intelligence agent, meets a woman from his past who begs him to find her missing son. Wake sets off across Florida, through the Bahamian islands, and deep into the dank jungles of Haiti to find the hidden lair of an anarchist group.
