From the Foreword by Frank Spellman, Olympic Middleweight Champion: "This book contains one of the most enlightening physical educating systems that will be your pleasure to read, practice, and enjoy. Carl has gone more thoroughly into the preliminary reasons for using weights and their results than has the author of any other book on weightlifting I have read. Many months and years of experimentation and coordinated college and American Athletic Union competitions have given Carl an insight as to what can be expected with the application of weights.

Miller, Carl: - Carl Miller has a Master's degree in health, physical education and recreation with specialty in exercise physiology, biomechanics and nutrition. As a former United States Olympic and World Weightlifting coach, he is the author of over fifty articles and several books on Olympic Style weightlifting and athletic training. He has also worked with strength coaches for the Chicago Bulls, Chicago White Sox, Miami Heat, Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots and the San Francisco 49ers. While in Colombia, he worked with their Olympic weightlifting track and field and swimming teams for two years. In Japan he worked with the women's Olympic volleyball team and the Honku Braves professional baseball team for three years.
