T V Rao, PhD, is Chairman, T.V. Rao Learning Systems (TVRLS), Ahmedabad (a research based consulting firm set up in 1996). He worked at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) between 1973 and 1995 and is currently an Adjunct Professor at the same institute. Dr Rao, along with Dr Udai Pareek, was instrumental in conceptualizing the first HRD Department in the corporate sector in mid-1970s at Larsen & Toubro (L&T). Subsequently, Dr Rao established the Centre for HRD at XLRI, Jamshedpur; National HRD Network India, Hyderabad; and the Academy of HRD, Hyderabad. Dr Rao has over 60 books to his credit in various fields including OD, HRD, Management of Education, Health and Population, Entrepreneurship, 360 Degree Feedback, etc. He worked as a short-term consultant to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Commonwealth Secretariat, etc.
