Review

It gives us a great pleasure to introduce a book Human Anatomy and Physiology, Theory and Practicals: Questions and Answers for Nursing Students. This book includes basic anatomy and physiology theory and practicals, according to the latest complete syllabus suggested by the Indian Nursing Council (INC), 2024. The layout of this textbook has been organized by keeping in mind the following main objectives: (1) To provide comprehensive knowledge to the students of the gross and microscopic structure and development of human body, and (2) to provide a basis for understanding the clinical correlation of organ structures, and related various parts with various clinical conditions and diseases.

Our introduction to Competency-based Medical Education (CBME) concept in this textbook will be useful for the students to integrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology with other premedical subjects such as medical biochemistry and nutrition, with paramedical subjects such as general medicine, microbiology, preventive medicine, pharmacology and also with case studies related to surgery, ophthalmology, pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics.

This textbook contains 16 chapters and 21 practicals, with the following various types of questions and related answers: MCQs, match the columns, long answer, short answer, table viva voce, practical viva voce, drawing labeled diagrams and questions based on pathophysiology–anatomy correlations.

We have presented this textbook in two colors. It contains 608 colored illustrations and important tables; which will be useful in learning and understanding the subject matter very well.

About the Author

Praful B Godkar MSc (Biochemistry) PhD (Life Sciences) is former Biochemist and Scientific Officer, Hospitals of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai; former Head, Department of Medical Laboratory Technology and Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS); chairperson of Board of Studies, SNDT Women's University, Mumbai; and former research guide, Department of Health Sciences, Symbiosis International University, Pune, was National Research Council Fellow, Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, (WRAIR), Silver Spring, MD, USA. Dr Godkar is currently a guest speaker at medical colleges of Health University, Mumbai, Thane, Maharashtra; visiting guest speaker at paramedical and science colleges of Mumbai University and other universities in Maharashtra; and adviser and member of the board of studies in clinical laboratory science (CLS), SNDT University, Mumbai. He is a renowned author of popular textbooks in the fields of medical laboratory technology, medical biochemistry, medical microbiology and related immunology and parasitology
