About The Book

In the context of the energy transition, organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites are emerging as the absorbers of choice for high-efficiency, low-cost solar cells. This book explores the synthesis and characterisation of new ABX₃-type alloys and perovskite/ZnO or TiO₂ heterojunctions. Hybrid perovskites have rapidly emerged as semiconductors for solar applications thanks to a unique combination of four key properties: a high optical absorption coefficient, a long carrier diffusion length, a high deep-level energy that tolerates structural disorder without massive trapping, and the ability to tune the bandgap. These characteristics enable the fabrication of thin-film solar cells, thereby reducing the energy footprint and cost compared to silicon technologies. This work establishes reproducible air-based synthesis protocols, identifies the temperature and composition windows that ensure structural and optical stability, and validates perovskite/oxide architectures that are directly transferable to solar cell stacks.
