"Why does that girl only have one hand?"

This is a question I have heard frequently since my daughter was born in 2013. We were quite surprised to see our beautiful baby girl was born as an in utero amputee; missing the lower portion of her left arm and hand. We soon learned about her diagnosis of Amniotic Band Syndrome (ABS) and began the journey of raising our child to be a powerful person regardless of her overt physical difference. Our mantra is simple and true.

"You are a Powerful Person. You make your own choices. You are beautiful, brave, strong and kind."

I Am a Powerful Person is a children's book created to teach young readers that they are ultimately responsible for their own choices. Despite hardship, disappointment and even prejudice, every single person is powerful enough to learn how to control their own self. One always has the choice between good and bad. And making a deliberate choice to reduce suffering or to augment it is up to them. It is the challenge to live up to one's fullest potential, embracing those difficult moments that can make us stronger than we ever thought possible! A real-life SUPER POWER that can be cultivated with discipline, sacrifice and patience!

Gazy, Patricia Ann: - My name is Patricia Ann and I am an artist. I grew up in New Jersey, went to school in Toronto, Ontario and found home in the mountains of Montana. As a self-taught artist I have focused most of my artistic endeavors selling paintings in galleries, at conferences or on-line. After having children, my creative process shifted toward finding ways to communicate life lessons to kids aiming to help prepare their hearts for the journey of life especially when the road gets bumpy. I predominantly work with paints and ink to create spiritual, illustrative and profound works of art that aim to speak truth and hope to the viewer.Art in any form has always been an avenue to touch something deeper than our minds. Whether it is the fluid lines of an inspired work of art, music that moves us, the flash of a shutter that captures a defining moment in time or the passionate movement of a dancer's body, art has a way of dismantling barriers while speaking directly to the human soul. I believe in a God who cares deeply for humanity and wants to express his love and commitment to us. In every creative endeavor, I hope to convey comfort to your heart, edification to your life and encouragement on your way.
