Pramila Iyer, a resident of Pune, Maharashtra, is a social worker, a poet and an author of six books. In her book Unparalleled Parallels, she compares Lao Tzu's message and Bhagwad Geeta's teachings of 'nishkama karma' that is, doing one's duty without expectation. Inspired by Swami Vivekananda, she has dedicated her life in the field of education for the underprivileged children. Though having no banner over her head, like-minded people joined her mission, which she smilingly calls as 'one-woman army.' This unsung heroine has been an inspiration to many. She has more than thirty years of experience working with underprivileged children, and also children from remand home for boys and girls.

She has also worked in an animal welfare organization. Her poems on cruelty to animals titled 'You Dye... I die' was acknowledged by the well-known animal activist Mrs. Maneka Gandhi, and has stirred many hearts and made many eyes blurred.

Her imaginative mind expresses her experience in all simplicity through her stories and poems.
