About The Author

Stefano Vignaroli, classe 1959, Medico Veterinario, coniugato da oltre vent'anni, padre di due figli, un maschio e una femmina. Ha sempre lavorato nel settore dei piccoli animali nella Provincia di Ancona. Oltre che di cani, appassionato di musica, soprattutto Jazz, in gioventù, ha suonato il Sax contralto in varie orchestrine, improvvisate e non, e nella banda della sua città. L'altra sua grande passione è sempre stata la montagna: adora stare a contatto con la natura, fare escursioni, passeggiate a piedi e in mountain bike. Dopo aver conseguito la Laurea all'Università di Perugia e la Specializzazione all'Università di Pisa, si è completamente dedicato alla professione. Dopo alcuni anni dedicati esclusivamente alla clinica dei piccoli animali in un ambulatorio privato, ha vinto un concorso come Dirigente Veterinario presso la A.S.L. di Ancona, dove tuttora lavora. Come Veterinario dipendente della locale Azienda Sanitaria si è trovato spesso a collaborare con Polizia e Carabinieri in indagini e operazioni riguardanti traffici illeciti di animali o episodi di maltrattamento ai danni degli stessi. Qualche anno fa, insieme ai Carabinieri del nucleo NAS di Ancona, è intervenuto in un maxi sequestro di più di cento cani, trasportati in condizioni incredibili su un traghetto proveniente dalla Grecia e diretti in Germania, dove sarebbero stati quasi sicuramente destinati alla vivisezione o, quanto meno, alla sperimentazione. Grazie all'aiuto di associazioni animaliste della zona, si è riusciti a dare in affido tutti gli animali sequestrati, che hanno trovato una casa e un buon padrone. La collaborazione e lo stretto contatto con le Unità Cinofile della Polizia di Stato, comandate dall'Ispettore Capo Endrio Vignaroli e distaccate all'Aeroporto Raffaello Sanzio di Ancona, è stata essenziale nel formulare il profilo della protagonista del romanzo, che inizia la sua carriera proprio come Responsabile del Distaccamento Cinofili. Dopo un ventennio speso a curare animali, seguire canili, intervenire nella gestione di problematiche relative al randagismo, sia canino che felino, e frequentare corsi d'aggiornamento professionale, ha pensato di fare qualcosa di diverso scrivendo dei romanzi, le cui trame e il relativo protagonista gli frullavano in testa da parecchio tempo, ma non aveva mai avuto né l'occasione, né il tempo di mettere giù per iscritto.
