Angesichts der sich immer weiter öffnenden Schere zwischen Arm und Reich bekannten einige, politisch eher als konservativ geltende Autoren, sie begännen zu glauben, dass die Linke recht hat. Peter Mersch zeigt hingegen auf, dass sich die Ursachen der ungünstigen Entwicklungen nicht eindeutig einer politischen Kategorie wie Links oder Konservativ zuordnen lassen, sondern dass wir es hierbei mit einem aus den Fugen geratenen und sich beschleunigenden evolutionären Prozess zu tun haben, bei dem es zu einer Plünderung aller wettbewerbsrelevanten Ressourcen - einschlie lich der Humanvermögen - kommt. Eine wesentliche Rolle spielt dabei der Umstand, dass in Marktwirtschaften zwei unterschiedliche Systemklassen an Evolutionsakteuren unmittelbar aufeinandertreffen, nämlich Menschen und Unternehmen, wobei Erstere für Letztere primär Ressourcen darstellen. Weil moderne menschliche Gesellschaften mit Geschlechtergleichberechtigung ihr Humanvermögen jedoch gewisserma en wie Gemeingut verwalten, kommt es unter den Verhältnissen zwangsläufig zum demografischen Wandel und zur gesellschaftsweiten Verarmung. Der Autor kommt zu dem Schluss, dass die aktuellen Entwicklungen auch deshalb so bedrohlich sind, weil sie - trotz der Summe und Schwere der sich dabei offenbarenden Probleme - nicht einmal ansatzweise verstanden werden. Er befürchtet, die beschriebenen Prozesse könnten eine unkontrollierbare Eigendynamik entfalten und schlie lich im Krieg enden.

Peter Mersch, Jahrgang 1949, ist Systemanalytiker und Zukunftsforscher. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen in den Gebieten Migräne, Evolutionstheorie, soziokulturelle Evolution, Demografie und Soziologie. Von ihm stammen die Systemische Evolutionstheorie, das Familienmanager-Konzept und die energetische Migränetheorie. Daneben beschäftigt er sich mit den Ursachen der Übergewichts- und Demenzepidemie. Auch dazu hat er eigene theoretische und praktische Konzepte vorgelegt. Seit 2004 betreibt er das Migräneportal www.migraeneinformation.de.
