Su idea de publicarlo surgió cuando su hermana redescubrió el cuento entre los papeles de la infancia de sus hijos. Beth decidió dar vida a la pura y hermosa historia de Sparky en 2025 para contrarrestar el sombrío estado actual del mundo. Beth es licenciada en biología por la Universidad de Cornell y tiene dos títulos de posgrado por la Universidad de Maryland: un máster en desarrollo sostenible y biología de la conservación y un máster en administración pública en política medioambiental.
