About The Book

Poetry is the creative expression of the multifaceted nature of the writer; an exposition and reflection of their innermost thoughts and feelings. The writing becomes the concrete evidence of how one experiences the world; a living dialogue that creates legacy.

The catalyst for my writing journey was the tragic loss of my beloved daughter Melissa in July of 2022. Seeking a cathartic outlet, through poetry and prose, I turned my pain into purpose by chronicling my grief journey in my first book, Poetry of Pain; Perspectives of a Grieving Mom: A Poetic Journey Through Grief, Inspired by a Mother's Love and then, my quest for solace through the healing power of Nature in my second and third books, #NatureHeals: A Poetic Journey Inspired by the Healing Power of Nature and #NatureHeals: The Journey Continues.

Along my journey, other pieces were written, either from prompts or for forms, or just from the heart, that did not fit into either theme or genre, and I realized that those pieces needed a home as they too are part of me. I am a grieving mom, but I am also so many other things. My grief does not define me.

This collection explores various themes, the role of poetry in my life, pain and transformation, enlightenment and the mystical, vulnerability, sexuality, romance and marriage, nostalgia and innocence, melancholy and mortality, and of course, smatterings of grief and nature - a glimpse into the other pieces of me.
