Impressions of Theophrastus Such is a collection of essays written by the renowned British author George Eliot. Originally published in 1879, the book is a departure from Eliot's usual style of fiction and instead presents a series of character sketches and social commentaries. The titular character, Theophrastus Such, is a fictional observer and commentator who provides a critical perspective on various aspects of Victorian society, including education, religion, and gender roles.
