John Lawson Stoddard (1850–1931), an American lecturer, writer, and photographer, made significant contributions in the field of multimedia presentations. He was an innovator in incorporating photographs into his captivating lectures, utilizing the stereopticon or magic lantern. His lectures focused on his extensive travels across the globe, and he further expanded upon his experiences by publishing books related to his journeys. Stoddard is widely acknowledged as a trailblazer in the development of travelogues, combining vivid imagery with storytelling to create a unique and influential genre.
