Sir Roper Lethbridge (1840–1919) was a British academic, civil servant, and Conservative politician. Educated at Exeter College, Oxford, and Inner Temple, he began his career in India in 1868 as a professor in the Bengal Educational Department. Lethbridge held key positions, including Political Agent and Press Commissioner, and was knighted in 1885. He served as an MP for Kensington North from 1885 to 1892. Lethbridge was a Fellow of the University of Calcutta, an editor, and a member of several scholarly societies.
