This book highlights the author's assertion that the people of India are the least understood and most easily misunderstood among the inhabitants of the West. Hindu teachings suggest that the Supreme Spirit continuously engages in a playful illusion. With a thirty-year residency in India, actively participating in the lives of its people, observing their lifestyles and thoughts with great enthusiasm, the author humbly asserts the right to speak on the subject, drawing from personal experiences.

John Peter Jones (1847-1916) completed his studies at Western Reserve University in Ohio, where he was later awarded a D.D. in 1895. His notable works include being the founding editor of the Year Book of Missions in India and authoring books and articles such as "India's Problem: Krishna or Christ" (1903), "India, Its Life and Thought" (1908), and "The Modern Missionary Challenge" (1911). These writings contributed to early twentieth-century discussions on the theology of religion.
