Valentine, Chirol: - British journalist and author Sir Valentine Chirol (1852-1929) specialized in international matters, particularly those pertaining to India and the Far East. He believed that the British Raj had significantly improved India and was a supporter of the British Raj in that nation. Chirol was a prolific author who published multiple volumes on India, China, and Japan in addition to his journalism. His best-known book, "Indian Unrest," examines the reasons behind and effects of the Indian nationalist movement. In 1912, Chirol received a knighthood for his contributions to journalism.
