Henry Dunning Macleod (1821-1902) was a Scottish economist and director of the Royal British Bank. He initially worked on poor-law reform in Scotland before dedicating himself to the study of economics. He published several notable works, including "Theory and Practice of Banking" in 1856, "Elements of Political Economy" in 1858, and "A Dictionary of Political Economy" in 1859. In 1873, he released "Principles of Economical Philosophy," followed by "The Theory of Credit" in 1889.
