About The Book

Industrial energy conservation has assumed remarkable significance ever since the first oil crisis struck the world. Industrial energy conservation is a dire necessity of the day. Accordingly, it is increasingly becoming a crucial part in the design, operation and maintenance of a wide range of products and processes. A need to adopt an integrated interdisciplinary approach towards energy systems and acquisition of conservation skills and knowledge has been universally accepted. The present book is an attempt to provide a basic background to energy conservation systems that are common to a wide variety of process industries. It is aimed at creating an opportunity for working engineers and students of mechanical, chemical and electrical engineering to determine if their technologies and organizations have relevant application in the energy systems. The lucidity and simplicity of the book is such that many concepts have been explained with the help of case studies to have practical relevance to different types of industries. Each unit of the book is copiously illustrated and contains principles, illustrations applications and case studies derived from several industrial energy audits. The book also caters to the needs of the non-specialists wanting to know about industrial energy conservation by introducing the concepts of thermal and electrical engineering at appropriate places with suitable applications. This book is an ideal companion to all those engineers who are involved in the design, operation and maintenance of industrial utilities and all those budding engineers pursuing a career related to energy conservation.

About The Author

K. Nagabhushan Raju has been active in the ever-growing field of energy for nearly two decades. Basically a Mechanical Engineer with specialization in Energy Conservation at master’s degree level, he holds a doctorate in Instrumentation. He was involved in conducting energy audits for more than 30 medium and large scale industries during his association with TERI, where he has received special training by the European Commission. He has rendered consultancy services to several industries and conducted many training programmes on energy for practising engineers in industries. He has several publications and presentations in conferences to his credit and is presently the Associate Professor of Instrumentation in Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.
