Die M�glichkeit, da die �konomische Umwelt mehrere Zust�nde einnehmen kann, bewirkt bei einem planenden und rational handelnden Agenten ein Informationsdefizit, sofern ihm der aktuelle Zustand nicht bekannt ist. Allerdings ist der Agent dieser Situation nicht hilflos ausgeliefert. In vielen F�llen kann er versuchen, das Informationsdefizit zu vermindern oder es sogar ganz zu beheben. In dieser Arbeit wollen wir uns mit der Problematik auseinandersetzen, unter welchen Bedingungen ein Agent solche Anstrengungen zur Informationsbeschaffung unternimmt. Die Unsicherheit, die der planende Agent in seinen Entscheidungen ber�cksichtigen mu , sofern er wirtschaftlich rational handeln will, kann sich auf mehrere Aspekte beziehen. Zum einen lassen sich viele Unsicherheitsph�nomene als stochastische Ereignisse der Natur interpretieren. Darunter verstehen wir alle zuf�lligen Daten�nderungen, die sich von keinem planenden und entscheidenden Wirtschaftssubjekt beeinflussen lassen. Beispiele hierf�r sind alle tats�chlichen Natureinfl�sse, wie das Wetter, zuf�llige Qualit�ts- und Ma schwankungen im industriellen Produktionsablauf oder auch modellexogene Parameterschwankungen, wie die Auslandsnachfrage in einer geschlossenen Volkswirtschaft. Um in einer solchen unsicheren Umwelt rational zu handeln, mu vom Entschei- der verlangt werden, da er zumindest subjektive Wahrscheinlichkeitsverteilungen �ber unsicheren Ereignismengen besitzt (vgl. Savage [1954]), und er mu eine kardinale Nutzenfunktion �ber solchen Wahrscheinlichkeitsverteilungen haben (vgl. 2 von Neumann und Morgenstern [1947]). Eine weitere M�glichkeit, die bei einem planenden Agenten einInformations- defizit hervorrufen kann, resultiert aus den Handlungen anderer Agenten.
