Doch nicht nur die modernen Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien haben in den letzten Jahren und Jahrzehnten eine Revolution erfahren, auch in bildungspolitischer Hinsicht konstituieren sich moderne Web-Applikationen, wie beispielsweise Online-Communities, durch ihr hohes Potenzial f r informelle Bildung. Partizipation, Vernetzung und Austausch werden dabei gleichsam zu den tragenden S ulen des modernen E-Learning. Eine daraus resultierende Einstellungs nderung der Internetnutzer zeigt sich im besonderen Ma e am ver nderten Nutzungsverhalten der letzten Jahre. Wie die nebenstehende Abbildung verdeutlicht, hat die Nutzung von Communities in den letzten drei Jahren deutlich zugenommen. Die ausgepr gte aktive Beteiligung vor allem an privaten Netzwerken f llt hierbei besonders auf. Wissens-Communities wie Wikipedia, deren Existenz auf dem sogenannten "user-generated-content" basiert, stehen nach wie vor an der Spitze der Applikationsvielfalt, die das Web 2.0 mit sich gebracht hat. Zumal informelle Bildung neben formalen Abschl ssen und Zertifikaten einen immer gr er werdenden Bedeutungszuwachs erf hrt, liegt die Fragestellung dieser Arbeit zu Grunde, ob und inwieweit die vielf ltigen Funktionen innerhalb dieser Netzwerke und Communities Chancen f r informelle Bildungsprozesse bieten. Ausgehend von den allgemeinen Theorie- und Funktionsgrundlagen werden folgende Ausf hrungen aufzeigen, inwieweit konkrete Bildungsprozesse in Online-Communities stattfinden. Im Fokus dieser Arbeit steht dabei die Frage, welche Potenziale das Lernen in virtuellen Gemeinschaften bietet und wie diese konkret ausgepr gt sein k nnen.
