Mit vorliegendem Band erscheint ein Werk, dessen prste Anlage noch aus der Zeit 1900 bis 1910 st-ammt, als ich Repetitorien aus dem Gebiet der Mathematik und Mechanik fiir die Diplompriifungen 1 an der Technischen Hochschule Miinchen leitete ), aus einer Zeit, die mich mit der mathematischen Denkweise unserer Studierenden ver- traut machte, mich aber auch die Schwierigkeiten eines fiir die technische Praxis notwendigen mathematischen Studiums vollkommen wiirdigen lieB. Der endgiiltigen Festsetzung und teilweisen Vollendung des Werkes habe ich meine Vorlesungen iiber Ingenieur-Mechanik zu- grunde gelegt, die ich die letzten beiden Jahre an der hiesigen Technischen Hochschule fiir die Studierenden aller Abteilungen gab. Demzufolge bildet der vorliegende erste Band die Unterlage zur Statik starrer Korper einschlieBlich der Theorie der eben en und raumlichen Fachwerke; der demnachst -erscheinende zweite Band (Differential- und Integralrechnung, Reihen, Gleichungen, Kurven- diskussion) fiir die Elemente der Mechanik starrer und nichtstarrer Korper; der dritte abschlieBende Band (gewohnliche Differential- gleichungen, Flachen, Raumkurven, partielle Differentialgleichungen, Wahrscheinlichkeits-und Ausgleichsrechnung, Fouriersche Reihen usw.) fUr allgemeine Festigkeitsrechnung und allgemeine Dynamik sowie angewandte Mechanik. "Ingenieur-Mathematik" habe icb das Werk betitelt und damit Zweck und Inhaltsumgrenzung angeben wollen sowie die Behandlung des Stoffes.
