Studien haben gezeigt, wie wichtig es ist, dass Lehrkräfte Studierende mit Behinderungen wahrnehmen, sich ihrer Bedürfnisse bewusst sind und wissen, welche angemessenen Vorkehrungen möglich sind. Diese Wahrnehmungen beeinflussen den Erfolg oder Misserfolg von Studierenden mit Behinderungen und wirken sich auf die Integration in der Hochschulbildung aus. Vor diesem Hintergrund ist der Forscher motiviert, das Thema der Wahrnehmung von Hochschullehrern im indischen Kontext zu untersuchen.
