Luisa Lopez's life fit inside a wooden chest.One day during the years of the Second Spanish Republic she made the decision to leave Gran Tarajal, and she never looked back. Once on board the Rodney Star, she met the Westerling family. Little could she have imagined the extent to which their lives would be forever intertwined.
The book narrates the lives of the characters whose world had begun to split into two. New ideologies, social changes, women's role in society, and the economic crisis paint the backdrop to this story. The book is filled with the spirit and vocabulary of the Canary Islands and is a true reflection of the customs and way of life of the time it depicts.

About the writer:
Born in 1984, Yara Medina/Jane Hormuth (pseudonyms which this young writer uses depending on the theme of each book) grew up on the island of Gran Canaria. Her love for reading blossomed in her teenage years when she began to devour books and, after more than a decade of writing her own stories, she decided that 2014 was the right time for them to be revealed. This book is the first that she has published under the pseudonym of Yara Medina, and its pages are embellished with the love that she feels for the Canary Islands.
