Dorothea Erdmuth Lotze-Kola is the seventh-generation granddaughter of Earl Zinzendorf, the German founder of the Moravian Church in the early eighteenth century. Dorothea grew up and studied theology in Germany before immigrating to the United States in 1993 to pursue her passion of working as a clinical chaplain. She later worked as a chaplain educator, and she worked in several hospitals for more than seventeen years before becoming a licensed marriage and family therapist. As an ordained pastor in the United Church of Christ, Dorothea serves the German church in Atlanta, Georgia, and she and her husband have twin daughters.
