Die Forschungsarbeit zur Intelligenzentwicklung im Jugendalter, die mit diesem Buch eindrucksvoll dokumentiert wird, stand zeitweise vor einem nicht unge- wohnlichen Dilemma: Dies akzentuierte sich einerseits in der empirischen Schwierigkeit der Erstellung homogener Vergleichsstichproben, andererseits in der Problematik einer theoretischen wie methodischen Reduktion der Funktio- nen intelligenten Verhaltens. Der Ertrag des Forschungsprojekts zeigt, daB die Verfasser vor diesem kriti- schen Punkten nicht resigniert haben. 1m Gegenteil: Ganz im Sinne der neuen handlungsorientierten Bewaltigungsforschung haben sie die Krise als Chance aufgegriffen. Dadurch sind sie zu einem erweiterten, namlich kognitive und motivationale Komponenten umfassenden Konzept intelligent en Verhaltens vorgestoBen, haben eine vereinfachende Dichotomisierung der Stichproben in Behinderte und Nichtbehinderte verlassen und letztlich versucht, Intelligenz in ihrem eigentlichen subjektiven Bedeutungs- und Lebenszusammenhang zu verstehen. Auf diesem Weg ist es ihnen auch gelungen, zugleich mehrere Ent- wicklungslinien aktueller behindertenpiidagogischer und psychologischer Frage- stellungen fortzuschreiben: Diese werden zuniichst dUTCh die zunehmende In- homogenitiit der Klientel aufgeworfen, wie sie in Schule und rehabilitativer Praxis allseits beobachtet wird. Komplex- und mehrfachbehinderte Schuler sind hier zur Regel geworden. Dadurch erweisen sich Behinderungen unter piid- agogischem Aspekt kaum mehr als systematisch abgrenzbare Erscheinungs- bilder;gefordert ist aufgrund der groBen interindividuellen Varianz ein individu- ell verstehender und erkliirender Zugang; dieser kann Behinderung nicht als definites Defizit bestimmen, sondern nur aus ihrer selbstorganisierten Kom- plexitiit heraus begreifen. Was die Frage nach dem intelligenten Verhalten korperbehinderter Kinder und Jugendlicher anbelangt, so steht die Arbeit in der Tradition eines Arbeits- schwerpunktes der Forschungsgemeinschaft "Das korperbehinderte Kind" e. V.
