Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dipl. -Wirtsch.-Ing. Willibald Günthner studierte an der Technischen Universität München Maschinenbau und Arbeits- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften. Nach seiner Promotion am dortigen Lehrstuhl für Förderwesen trat er als Konstruktions- und Technischer Leiter für Förder- und Materialflusstechnik in die Fa. Max Kettner Verpackungsmaschinen ein. 1989 übernahm er die Professur für Förder- und Materialflusstechnik an der FH Regensburg. Seit 1994 ist Prof. Günthner Leiter des Lehrstuhls für Fördertechnik Materialfluss Logistik an der TU München.
Er ist Gründungsmitglied und Schatzmeister der Wissenschaftlichen Gesellschaft für Technische Logistik WGTL und stellvertretender Vorsitzender des Wissenschaftlichen Beirats der Bundesvereinigung Logistik. Seit September 2004 war er Sprecher des Bayerischen Forschungsverbundes "Supra-adaptive Logistiksysteme (ForLog)" und ist Mitglied des Vorstandes der VDI-Gesellschaft "Produktion und Logistik" sowie Vorsitzender des Fachbereichs "Technische Logistik".

Professor Dr. Michael ten Hompel studierte Elektrotechnik an der RWTH Aachen und promovierte an der Universität Witten/Herdecke. Er ist Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Förder- und Lagerwesen an der Universität Dortmund und geschäftsführender Institutsleiter am Fraunhofer-Institut für Materialfluss und Logistik in Dortmund. Neben seiner wissenschaftlichen Tätigkeit ist Professor ten Hompel auch als Unternehmer tätig gewesen. So gründete er 1988 die GamBit GmbH und leitete das Unternehmen, das sich vorrangig mit der Entwicklung und Realisierung von Warehouse-Management-Systemen beschäftigt, bis zum Jahr 2000 als geschäftsführender Gesellschafter.
Er ist Gründungsmitglied und Vizepräsident der Wissenschaftlichen Gesellschaft für Technische Logistik WGTL, Mitglied des Hauptvorstandes des BITKOM, Mitglied des Vorstandes der Bundesvereinigung Logistik und Sprecher des Direktoriums derFraunhofer Academy.
