**THEY DON'T NEED TO INVADE US. THEY JUST NEED US TO DESTROY OURSELVES.**
Interview 130031 was never supposed to exist. Deep beneath a government facility, a classified interrogation begins with a single impossible subject: an extraterrestrial being recovered under circumstances the government refuses to explain. One interviewer is assigned to determine what it is, where it came from, and most importantly, **why it is here.** He expects answers. Instead, he gets questions. The subject knows human history. It knows our fears. It knows our conflicts. And somehow, it knows things that no alien should possibly know. The interviewer begins secretly documenting every session in a private journal, convinced that the government will destroy the evidence the moment the truth becomes too dangerous. At first, his entries are calm, professional observations. Then the subject starts talking about **the harvest.** It claims humanity has been studied for generations by an intelligence far more advanced than our own. But there will be no traditional invasion. No armada appearing in the sky. No declaration of war. Because they have learned something about humanity. **A united species is difficult to conquer.** A divided species is not. The subject describes a terrifying process designed to prepare civilizations for extinction. Identify their differences. Amplify their fears. Encourage distrust. Turn neighbors against neighbors. Make every disagreement feel like an existential battle. Keep the population angry, frightened, isolated, and permanently divided. The goal isn't to make humanity believe the same thing. **The goal is to make sure humanity can never agree on anything.** As the interviews continue, the narrator begins discovering that his own government knows far more than it has admitted. Previous encounters have been concealed. Records have disappeared. People connected to the program have died or vanished. And then the subject tells him something that changes the entire investigation: **They have already begun.** The interviewer desperately searches for another explanation. A psychological operation. A government experiment. An elaborate deception. Perhaps the creature itself is manipulating him. But with every interview, another piece falls into place. Soon he can no longer tell whether he is uncovering a conspiracy, being psychologically manipulated, or witnessing the beginning of something humanity has no chance of stopping. And then comes the question he has been afraid to ask: **Who exactly is "They"?** *Interview 130031: Subject The Alien* is a gripping psychological science-fiction thriller presented as the secret journal of a government interviewer who discovers a terrifying possibility: the greatest threat to humanity may not be waiting somewhere in space. It may already be here. And it may have been watching us for a very, very long time. **The interview is classified.• Author(s): Clear | James • Publisher: Penguin • Publisher Imprint: Penguin Random House • Subject: General Books
