Nigel Fielding is Professor of Sociology and co-Director of the Institute of Social Research at the University of Surrey, England. Among his books on aspects of method are Linking data: the articulation of qualitative and quantitative methods in social research (1986, Sage; with J.L. Fielding); Actions and structure (1988, Sage; editor); Using computers in qualitative research, (1991, Sage; editor, with R. Lee), Computer Analysis and Qualitative Research (1998, Sage; with R. M.
