The concept of ethics, the various ethical values, and the ethical requirements for a professional in the modern workplace are highlighted in detail. The ramifications of industrialization, the respective roles of science, technology and engineering, as well as the need for preservation of the environment and the use of eco-friendly technologies are explained. Finally, the ethical issues involved in the management of resources are discussed.

A number of case studies have been provided in the book to enable a clear understanding of the topics presented. Each chapter contains short answer as well as long answer questions to test the students’ grasp of the underlying concepts.

SAMITA MANNA, D.Litt, is Professor in the Department of Sociology, University of Kalyani, West Bengal. She has more than three decades of teaching and research experience.
