After author Margo Tucker's father passed away, her mother moved in with her, becoming both her roommate and an artist. Both women grew as they shared their lives, and one day, Margo's mom said, "We need to put a book together." The result is It Has Been Great, a collection of vignettes marked by love, respect, and enjoyment and sharing a sense of fun and adventure arising from their lengthy informative discussions over coffee together. It serves as a moving account of time spent with a strong-willed mother as she faced the last months of her life. Margo's experience and education in gerontology gave her insight into her mother's life, and with those as supports, she was able to call on and develop her inner citadel. The quality of life, autonomy, dignity, respect, and love that was established over the years in Margo's relationship with her parents serve as the heart of this story. Moving and uplifting, this personal narrative presents the story of a woman and her mother as the latter comes to the last months of her life.
