James L. Goodson has been a believer since learning about Christ while he was serving in the US Air Force in 1956. God soon called him to ministry.

Goodson earned his BA from Grand Canyon College, his BD from Midwestern Seminary, and his ThD from Southwestern Seminary. He has engaged in pastoral ministry, has edited youth curriculum materials, and has served as a national youth consultant for the Baptist Sunday School Board. He worked as the missions director of the Florida Baptist Convention before retiring. Goodson has contributed writings to Pulpit Digest, Broadman Bible Character Series, and Church Administration, among others.

Goodson has been married to his wife, Gail, for fifty-five years. They currently live in Bloomington, Indiana.
