About The Author

Champat Rai Jain (1867–1942) was a Digambara Jain barrister, scholar, and reformer from Delhi who studied law in England. An influential writer on Jainism and comparative religion, he defended Jain doctrines against colonial Christian critiques and sought to explain them using modern psychology and science. He founded the Jaina Mission in London and the Akhil Bharatvarsiya Digambara Jain Parisad (1923) to unite and reform the community. An orator and activist, he lectured internationally, promoted Digambara identity, and was honored with the title Vidya-Varidhi.
