Each exercise is written out in virtually every key, inversion, movement and direction. Also included are a few sample Suspended triads. There are end of chapter tests for each triad study plus capstone exercises to test your overall knowledge. Triads are a fundamental study as important as scales. You will always have trouble improvising if you do not fully grasp chords and chord scales. Triads are the foundation of all chords, and a derivative of associated chord scales. In fact, the first three notes of Coltrane's infamous Giant Steps solo is a simple ascending minor root triad. MUSIC STUDENTS You cannot get around chords and scales playing jazz, blues, funk, fusion, R&B, rock, etc. The knowledge and understanding you will achieve by practicing the triad exercises in this book will greatly enhance your ability to read chords, chord scales and ultimately, your jazz improvisation skills. Kenneth M. O'Gorman is a life-long musician who plays saxophone and trumpet. He performs regularly on saxophone and teaches privately, most notably, jazz improvisation. Kenneth has developed several music training aids that help others learn or improve their improvisation skills. Ken's current published works are listed below. FUN FACTS for Kenneth M. O'Gorman: -Ken was "forced" to join the musicians union - in 10th grade, for taking pay gigs on their "turf". -Ken trained at Settlement Music School, as did notable musicians Joey DeFrancesco, Stanley Clarke and Chubby Checker, actor Kevin Bacon and physicist Albert Einstein. -Was in the Settlement Jazz Combo with Grammy-nominated Jazz Organist, Joey DeFrancesco. -Appeared in the John Travolta film, "Blowout". -Performed "Elvira" live with The Oak Ridge Boys. -Played for several US Presidents while serving over 6yrs in three US Army Bands. -Inspired the blowgun-wielding character "Ogorm" in the Tenebrea series written by friend/mentor/author Dan Graham and Star Trek: Voyager's Roxanne Dawson.
