Fachbuch aus dem Jahr 2019 im Fachbereich Ingenieurwissenschaften - Energietechnik, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Prof. Dr. Viktor Kaplan (1876-1934) optimierte zuerst die von US-amerikanischen und britischen Erfindern stammende und mit fixen Schaufeln versehene Propellerturbine und revolutionierte anschlie end mit seiner Erfindung der Turbine mit verdrehbaren Laufschaufeln die Energienutzung der Flüsse. In diesem Buch werden sein Leben und sein Lebenswerk vorgestellt, das begleitet war von heftigen Kämpfen um seine Patente, die zur Zermürbung seiner Gesundheit führten. Nach anfänglichen Schwierigkeiten mit der Kavitation setzte sich die Kaplanturbine weltweit durch und zählt damit neben der Francisturbine und der Peltonturbine zu den drei Hauptturbinenarten zur Nutzung der Wasserkraft. Aufgrund der von den Propellerturbinen bzw. Kaplanturbinen ausgehenden Anregungen entstanden in der Folge verschiedene Turbinenarten, die hier in einigen Beispielen vorgestellt werden sollen: u.a. die Deriazturbine, die Diagonalturbine nach Kwiatowski, die Reiffensteinturbine und verschiedene Arten von Rohrturbinen, wie die Arno Fischer-Turbine nach dem Konzept seines Unterwasserkraftwerkes, die PIT-Turbine, die S-Turbine, die Getriebe-Rohrturbine, die STRAFLO-Turbine, aber auch die vertikale Dive-Turbine.
