Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2001 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,7, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Institut für deutsche Sprache und Literatur), Veranstaltung: Seminar, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Thema dieser Hausarbeit soll das Gedicht "Odysseus in Ithaka" von Karl Mickel sein, welches ich analysieren und interpretieren möchte. Karl Mickel, der eine Professur für Versma und Diktion an der Berliner Schauspielschule "Ernst Busch" innehatte, verstarb am 20. Juni 2000. Er galt als einer der "gescheitesten, theoretisch und poetisch geschultesten in dieser Gruppe [Sächsische Dichterschule, d. A.]", aber auch als einer der am wenigsten bekannten Lyriker der DDR. In zweiter Existenz Wissenschaftler, - Wirtschaftshistoriker, was in seinen Gedichten, die immer wie eine künstlerische Weiterführung seiner analytischen Thesen und Beobachtungen wirken, zum Ausdruck kommt. Das Gedicht "Odysseus in Ithaka", im Band "Vita nouva mea - Mein neues Leben" im Jahre 1966 veröffentlicht, steht einerseits in der Tradition der Verarbeitung antiker Mythen in der Literatur der DDR der sechziger Jahre, mu aber anderseits wegen seinem negativen und gesellschaftskritischen Entwurf und der Lyrikauffassung, die sich gegen tradierte Formen und vorgegebenen Darstellungen widersetzt Ausnahme gelten. Im Mittelpunkt meiner Arbeit soll dabei die Frage nach der Bedeutung des Mythos und im Speziellen, des Odysseus Mythos in der DDR-Literatur stehen. Es wird sich dann eine Analyse und Interpretation dieses Gedichtes anschlie en. Karl Mickels Odysseus stellt sich nach der Rückkehr von zehnjähriger Irrfahrt die Frage nach der Heimat Ithaka, die ihm nun entfremdet und vergreist erscheint. Der Mythos wird von Mickel als Maske einer anderen Frage, der Frage nach der Ankunft bzw. der sozialistischen Heimat benutzt.
