About The Book

Bis zu der in den 70er Jahren aufkommenden Massenarbeitslosigkeit in Westdeutschland war das Problem der Armut kein Thema in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Besonders seit den 80er Jahren hat sich dies jedoch erheblich verändert, Armut ist zu einem wichtigen sozialen Problem geworden. Heute, im beginnenden 21. Jahrhundert wird in Deutschland trotz eines hohen Wohlstandsniveaus die Zahl derer immer grö er, die von Armut und prekärem Wohlstand betroffen sind. Besonders die Kinderarmut - darüber ist sich die Armutsforschung weitgehend einig - ist in den vergangenen drei ig Jahren deutlich angewachsen und stagniert auf hohem Niveau. Unter Kinderarmut ist im Verlauf der Arbeit allgemein die Betroffenheit von Kindern und Jugendlichen von Armut zu verstehen, und nicht, dass es einen gesellschaftlichen Mangel an Kindern gibt. Da es wegen der unterschiedlichen Bemessungskonzepte von Armut eindeutige Zahlen über dieses Phänomen nicht gibt, wird auf die Nennung solcher Statistiken weitgehend verzichtet. Durch blo e Zahlen lässt sich Armut bzw. Kinderarmut nicht treffend beschreiben. Diese Arbeit soll einen Gesamtüberblick über die Ursachen und Konsequenzen eines Phänomens geben, welches gravierende Auswirkungen auf Kinder und damit auf die Zukunft hat. Es soll ebenfalls gezeigt werden, welche Handlungsmöglichkeiten es bereits gibt, den Ursachen und Auswirkungen von Kinderarmut durch reaktive und präventive Ma nahmen entgegen zu treten.
