Der Klimawandel ist heute fast überall aktueller Gesprächsgegenstand. Nicht immer werden dabei abgedroschene Behauptungen durch Tatsachen ersetzt, werden globale Beobachtungen in Zusammenhang mit regionalen Ereignissen gesetzt. Klimawandel gilt es, möglichst objektiv und sachlich zu betrachten. Wir wollten uns mit unserem Fachprojekt dem Problemkreis Klimawandel widmen, weil er gegenwärtig und zukünftig für uns und unser aller Umwelt von grö ter Bedeutung ist. Diese Bedeutung wird sich auch in der kommunalen Praxis niederschlagen müssen, wenn wir die Zukunft erfolgreich bewältigen wollen. In unserem Projektteam haben wir Fakten und Lösungsansätze gemeinsam erarbeitet und abgewogen. Uns war bewusst, dass wir dabei nicht mehr als Denkanstö e geben können. Zugleich müssen wir alle erkennen: Klimawandel findet statt. Auch bei uns und vor unserer Haustür. Wir wollten mit unserem Fachprojekt dazu beitragen, dass das Problem weiter in Denken und Handeln präsent bleibt. Klar ist uns dabei geworden: Es darf zur Lösung anstehender, existentieller Fragen keine Denkverbote geben: Auch unkonventionelle Denkweisen müssen sachlich und abwägend überprüft werden, im Gesamtzusammenhang, und nicht isoliert gesehen. Wir werden die Probleme der Zukunft insgesamt nur lösen können, wenn wir wie unsere Fachprojektgruppe offen und fair nach Lösungen suchen.

Rechtsanwalt Ralf Bernd Herden, Bürgermeister a.D., Lehrbeauftragter ist u.a. Vizepräsident des Eigenheimerverbandes Deutschland e.V. und Mitglied des Präsidiums der Deutschen Gartenbau-Gesellschaft von 1822 e.V. Er hat diesen Reader gemeinsam mit den Studierenden des Fachprojektes "Klimawandel" an der Hochschule für öffentliche Verwaltung in Kehl am Rhein erarbeitet.
