Im vorliegenden Buch sind osteologische Krankheitsbilder im Erwachsenenal- ter aus röntgendiagnostischer und -differentialdiagnostischer Sicht beschrieben und durch Abbildungen dokumentiert, die meinen persönlichen Erfahrungen zufolge in der röntgenologischen Praxis anzutreffen sind und nicht zu den Raritäten zählen. Dabei handelt es sich um osteologische Veränderungen, die im klinischen Bereich eigentlich nur mit Hilfe radiologischer Methoden diagnostiziert werden können und radiologische Leitsymptome repräsentieren. Primär traumatologische und spezielle orthopädische Veränderungen sind ausgeklammert. Erkrankungen der Gelenke und des fibroossären Übergangs- bereiches, seltene angeborene und erworbene Skeletveränderungen finden in einem Glossar hinsichtlich ihrer wesentlichen Röntgenzeichen Erwähnung, so- weit sie das differentialdiagnostische Spektrum häufiger Krankheitsbilder be- rühren. Das häufigen bzw. relativ häufigen osteologischen Krankheitsbildern unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Differentialdiagnose gewidmete Buch stellt kein Konkurrenzwerk zu den in den letzten Jahren auf dem Gebiete der osteologischen Radiologie erschienenen umfangreichen und hervorragenden Nachschlagwerken dar, die mehr den Spezialisten auf diesem Gebiet anspre- chen. Es ist daher auch zwangsläufig frei von einem "Zuviel" an historischen, pathologisch-anatomischen und klinischen Darstellungen. Die Erläuterung pa- thologisch-anatomischer, pathophysiologischer und klinischer Daten und Zu- sammenhänge erfolgt in einem Rahmen, der durch die Grenzen des zum Verständnis radiologischer Veränderungen Notwendigen gesteckt wird.
