Das Xylit weist neben den Vorteilen der Fruktose und des Sorbits weitere gunstige Eigenschaften auf, die dies en Stoff fur die dringliche Infusionstherapie sehr brauchbar machen. Diese Eigenschaften sind: starke antiketogene Wirkung, Anwendbarkeit bei Patienten mit Diabetes mellitus, gute postoperative Verwendbarkeit und die anabole Wirkung. Damit aile interessierten Theoretiker und Kliniker uber diesen neuesten Stand unterrichtet werden, wurden diese Probleme in das Programm des Mainzer Symposions vom 13. und 14.
