Die Aufgabe der Kommunikationspsychologie wurde über das Erklären, wie es zum Beispiel zu Störungen kommen kann, hinausgehend um einige Komponenten erweitert, wie das Gestalten von Lösungsansätzen, Ich-Botschaften, aktives Zuhören, Trennen von Sach- und Beziehungsebene, Metakommunikation, Feetback, Selbstoffenbarung usw. Dabei lässt sich das ideale Kommunikationsverhalten bzw. eine adäquate Kommunikation erst aus den Besonderheiten oder dem Charakter der gesamten Situation erschlie en. Diese ist sowohl von den äusseren Umständen als auch von dem jeweiligen Gesprächspartner individuell und setzt immer wieder eine gewisse Flexibilität und sensibles Einfühlungsvermögen voraus.
